Martin Paul Nawrot

We are following two research aims. In our computational neuroscience section we aim at biologically realistic functional neural network models that perform sensory-motor transformation and control adaptive behavior. We consider primate and rodent models for action selection and behavioral decision making in thalamo-cortical models and for the control of energy homeostasis. We specialize in insect models for the study of experience-dependent plasticity and the expression of learned behavior, complemented by in-lab neurophysiological and behavioral experiments in insects. In the AI for Neuroscience section we leverage novel deep learning methods to develop analysis tools for behavioral neurophysiology and predictive modeling, both in basic and clinical research. We closely collaborate with experimental and clinical partners, which is supported by our highly interdisciplinary research team.
